oh sweet jesus
Check out this rockin theme. Absolutely ridiculous. I am going to change all of it for sure ASAP. The layout was what I wanted.
Getting all my work aligned after several months out of the loop. The portfolio and the site have new life. Check it out for now at http://frusciantedesign.com.
Posters by Tony Frusciante on Flickr
So last week I started cleaning out old hard drives. Ones that still work at least. There is nothing more agonizing than losing a bunch of work that you have put your soul into than having a drive crash. It happens. So I decided to start putting the posters that I make in one location on-line if for nothing else, my own benefit.

24/7 Acoustic Concert Portland
Here is a poster for this weekends 24/7 Acoustic concert to be held in the atrium at Wieden+Kennedy’s Global headquarters in Portland, Oregon. The event is free and open to the public. Here is some more info as written on my other blog, WK Portland.
By mid-March, the United States will have been at war in Afghanistan and Iraq for seven years. To mark this important, if tragic, anniversary, over 150 of the Portland area’s best classical, contemporary and world musicians are uniting to make a giant musical gift to the city and beyond.
“24/7” is a series of 24 dramatic concerts, each starting upon the hour, from 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, and continuing through to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 22, in the W+K Atrium.
FREE.
WK Radio will broadcast a portion of the event.

Unclassified
Unclassified is a WK Radio program by Cynthia Valenti. She explores all kinds of music for certain bass lines or drum tracks or harmonies that tickle your bones. I made a bunch of logos for this poster when I started. I then thought why not make two posters in one. One poster is laid over some wall paper and when you rip away one the other is revealed. Here is a high res file so you can check the details.
Check out Cynthia’s show, Friday’s at 11am on WK Radio.
Now every so often this kinda of thing happens
Ok so check this out.

My friend sent me this picture and I thought, how proud someone must feel to stand in front of a lifetime of work. This picture says it all.
David Fincher
Back in school one of my design classes took the idea of making a film festival around a director. Each student chose a director research and then make a campaign around. Back then I chose Abel Ferrara because he was really obscure compared to others and he made this film that I loved called Bad Lieutenant. So last night, went to see the latest David Fincher film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons. Yeah I know it’s been out for ages, on some things I am slow, but it did have me think about some of David Fincher’s work. Last year W+K made a Nike spot with Fincher called Nike Fate. A great story of two athlete’s meeting with destiny. Very Fincher-esque if you consider several other pieces of his work that also work with a destiny plot.
Fight Club is such a great film. Taking control of your destiny rather than living the cliche of an IKEA dream. There is something about the use of color in all of Fincher’s films. In Fight club, the color of the blood from these guys is much more brown and green. Not bright red. Also a lot of the fight sequences were shot in places that also seemed green and yellow. This effect in a way calms down the site of blood and takes the film out of a gore genre. I am sure there is more reasoning behind it.
Great poster for this film. There are a lot of ways of telling a story and again Fincher’s use of light to create mood in Zodiac should be noticed. Bright flourescent lights for periods in the film that are to be revealing of information towards the case or of the characters.

Donkey Comp
A handful of months ago, a couple of fellas at work came over to my desk and to help out with a comp. This request was a little different in the regard that it was not pushing pixels but running around on the roof in some Nike gear.
Above is the initial comp that sold the idea through executed by Brad Simon. Check out his art here. He’s awesome.
Here is the final ad that is for Nike Latin America Futbol. It is a print piece for the Nike Wake Up Call spot shot in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Here is the whole posting over at the other blog that I craft, WK Portland.
Inauguration

The 2009 Presidential Inauguration is Tuesday and it is going to be massive. 3 million+ people are heading to D.C. this weekend for the event. I am not going to be one of those people nor is really anyone I know. So for radio we are going to have Mark Fitzloff, ECD WK PDX, and Joani Wardwell, head of PR at WK and a former White House Staffer, follow the events live. This inauguration is one of the most anticipated events of the past decade if not our lifetimes. With direct experience of working with the Democratic Party, Joani will be able to give some interesting insight on to the functions of government at the highest level in a personal way.
For this poster I had the idea that not only is Barrack Obama personally solemnly swearing his pledge to the Nation, but in a way we are sharing that moment as well. The only way this big mess that is happening in America is going to change is if we all contribute and make that same oath to change.
Launch

January 5th has come and gone, but that was the launch date of a great project I have been contributing to known as WK Radio. This was the poster for it. I think it has even made it’s way onto fffound.com. The radio project is kind of the best gig in the world for me. I keep getting challenged with a new event or concept that I need to hatch in a short period of time and make it happen. Good things don’t last forever. Gonna enjoy it while it’s happening that’s for sure.
Oh hey, the sun is out. Late.
