Friday afternoon. The presentation is out the door and so am I. Hopping on the sleazy jet from Luton to Charles De Galle, Paris.
How I got here with out taking the wrong train or missing my flight and actually having an easy go of it, is dumb luck. Plenty of opportunities to get confused on this bit. I am getting comfortable with traveling around everywhere and anywhere all at once.
This is the platform at Gare du Nord where I caught the Metro to where I was staying in Les Halles. This train was packed with folks going home or where ever on a Friday after work.
I got to my place in Les Halles right at dusk. I am staying on the 6th floor of this place that is surrounded by sex shops on one side and lots of prostitutes on the other. I feel safe as anywhere else though. A little bonus when homeboy at the hotel charged me 108 instead of 180 for three nights. That is going to throw my budget all off. I guess I am now forced to get those pink, fluffy handcuffs just to even it all out.
Right away I found this incredible palace that must be the Hotel De Ville. Of course it had an ice rink in front of it.
Shortly after that I circled back and found the Pompidu Center amidst these really narrow alleys. I have really wanted to see this building and I will explore it in detail tomorrow. The main thing about this building is that the Architects thought it would be interesting and informative to expose all of the normally hidden ducts and venting systems. They color-coded them so people could figure it all out. Like I said, more on this tomorrow.
In walking around for just a couple of hours, I noticed something. It seems that a massive bomb has gone off here and the fallout of that event is gorgeous women everywhere. Not to sound sleazy, although that is today’s theme, but it is a fact. Stay tuned for this one too, as I will try to give a proper diagnosis on this subject.
It is painfully obvious that there are rentable bikes all over town. I saw lots of people using them. I may try to figure this out too. I love this idea of public transport even if the style of these rides is just left of homo. But what the hell do I know. This is gay Paree after all.
This is something else that looks really old and incredible and I have no idea what it is. It’s on the end of Rue St. Denis where I am staying. Just on the other side of the prostitutes.
And lastly, for all of the high art I am going to absorb tomorrow this thing might be right there with it all. A collection of old posters and graf tags and wind and water. For some reason this is incredible to me. Either that or I am way tired.
Until tomorrow, Bonsoir.
